Superior to Donate $5,000 to Boost Child Abuse Prevention Month

Superior HealthPlan (Superior) is glad to declare a donation of $5,000 to boost the prevention of child abuse. The donation will enable the Family Guidance & Outreach Center in Lubbock to buy and distribute 40,000 blue ribbons imprinted with the message "It should not hurt to be a child."

"April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and we are proud to support the attempts in the Lubbockarea to bring awareness for this cause," claimed Cynthia McCoy, Superior's Director of Operations for the region. "We are motivating individuals to wear the ribbon during the month of April to promote the prevention of child abuse."

The blue ribbon campaign began in the year 1989 and is now motivated by millions of people throughout the U.S. Each year, the Family Guidance & Outreach Center supports this cause by distributing blue ribbons to schools, hospitals, businesses, daycare centers, churches and other agencies throughout theLubbock area.

"Lubbock has one of the greatest concentrations of confirmed victims of child abuse in the state," claimed Fiona May, Executive Director of the Family Guidance & Outreach Center. "It is imperative that we sustain our mission to heighten the awareness. We are proud to partner with Superior HealthPlan to make a difference in the lives of children."
