Measures to pursue healthcare employees unveiled

The Ministry of Health (MOH) will be stepping up efforts to pursue fresh graduates and mid-career professionals to join the healthcare industry.

In her speech at the Committee of Supply Debate on Wednesday (April 13), Senior Minister of State for Health, Dr Amy Khor, stated that the efforts are part of a plan to increase the healthcare workforce.

A new Senior Management Associate Scheme will be initiated to attract mid-career talents with supervisory or managerial experience who are interested on a career switch to the aged care sector.

In accordance to Dr Khor, MOH aims to recruit ten mid-career talents each year.

This group will undergo 3 months of training with the Agency of Integrated Care (AIC) to understand the sector before taking up senior roles like Centre Directors in the institutions.

MOH will offer support to the institutions for the remuneration and benefits to these talents.

In a bid to attract non-practising regional nurses back to work in the growing aged care sector, MOH will enhance its Return-To-Nursing scheme.
