Shorten threats, attacks Coalition as insurers defend increase

The opposition leader, Bill Shorten, has condemned the Coalition for overseeing increases in health premiums as the health minister, Sussan Ley, claims she is entering in to demand insurers justify their appeals to raise charges.

The previous 2 premium rises have been the greatest in a decade.

“2 years on, the Liberals are now realizing that the horse has bolted and they have got to do something about it,” Shorten informed reporters in Brisbane.

“As they approach an election the government is scrambling around attempting to do something because they realize that for the cost of premiums going up, some of the greatest numbers we have seen in a decade, Australians are thoroughly dissatisfied.”

Private health insurers are alerting the Turnbull government there are no short-term fixes towards gaining affordable healthcare.

Private Healthcare Australia, which depicts the insurance industry, also favored premium increases, claiming insurers were working to keep them as low as possible.
